Dragon Ball Super Episode 81 - Crusher Bergamo vs. Son Goku!

I do not own this picture
It's a little too obvious at this stage in the plot what the writers are trying to do. Goku seems nuts, like he's lost the plot and quite frankly, I think he is way out of character at this point.

So why you might wonder do I think this?

Goku has been made to look like the bad guy by Bergamo in this episode who actually refers to Goku directly as the villain. Everyone in all the other Universes think the same thing. And guess what? I do too.

He's practically turned into Cell at this point. He's reached the pinnacle of power after his God transformation and the plot writers must be creating this drastic character change on Goku to display how even a simple guy like Goku can become almost too arrogant with his power.
At the end of the episode Goku challenges the whole Universe, saying "Bring it on, I'll take out every last one of you". Despite jeopardising the entire Universe, he seems totally unfazed. And this is why a lot of the fandom are question whether Goku is even Goku anymore. For thousands if not millions of fans, Goku is a fictional character that symbolises a hero and he's very idiotically led everyone into the apocalypse. This is the same person that would drop his pride and ego and would do everything in his power to save the Earth. This is the same person who always stands for what's right.

And here he is, causing mayhem.

Final verdict: he must be on drugs.

I do not own this picture.
It's very pretty.

One Piece Episode 714 REVIEW - The Healing Princess! Save Mansherry!

As the title of the episode says, this episode showcases the mission to save Princess of the Tontatta Tribe, Mansherry, led by Leo.
The episode hovers over the Kyros, Rebecca and Nico Robin situation, where they are in engaged combat with Diamante.
After most if not all the Donquixote family is defeated and knocked out by the efforts of the Strawhats and the herds of people that Usopp saved, Giolla of the Donquixote family remains alive and happens to discover the method of Mansherry’s healing power.

The producers try to add comedic value to this discovery as the contrasting personalities of Giolla and Mansherry are displayed, with Gloria saying phrases like, “Did you call me Boa Hancock?” whilst constantly poking the little head of Mansherry who like many Tontattas, cries helplessly.

It turns out that Mansherry’s tears can be used to heal wounds of people who all but dead. While on this topic, I happened to notice that Dellinger wasn’t actually killed by Hakuba, but rather knocked out, which of course is very One Piece-like.

The introducing of the healing powers can make us think of it's possible uses down the line, a possibility being, will the healing powers be used to help Luffy fight Doflamingo. Or perhaps, if the near future confrontation with Big Mam approaches right after the Doflamingo fight, will Luffy require Mansherry’s help? Or maybe Mansherry will be targetted for her powers later on. If I recall correctly, Usopp was shown to be quite intrigued by the discovery of this power, which can make us wonder.

This episode managed to spend it’s entire span showing Leo and the rest of the Tontattas running up to a crazy Giolla and quite easily taking care of her as Beetle delivers an uppercut, and Leo uses his sewing powers to sew away the fallen and sew up Giolla, thereby making her efforts futile.

I was quite disappointed by this episode as it hardly made any progress in terms of the overall story line. I also feel that so much focus on this calibre of fight is unnecessary. I was hoping for more from Mouji, the elderly Tontatta. I expected he would do more to save his beloved princess than just cry and scream as I believe the author may have given misleading cues for this character. Did you have this thought?

The episode finishes with Bellamy still springing around attacking Luffy, saying that if he takes Luffy down, then he could stay in Doflamingo’s memory, even if it is for a bit. Quite frankly, after a rollercoaster of emotions displayed by this character, one day he is good, the other bad, and this repeats, I think the audience has had enough of giving attention to Bellamy. As seen in the episode, it seems Luffy has had enough as well and perhaps the next action Luffy is going to take is knock Bellamy’s lights out.

We may be seeing the end of Senor and Franky’s never ending battle of manliness, according to the preview. I really hope this brings us closer to the final fight as most of us are eager to see the end of this Arc.

I rate this episode a 6/10 simply because of how disappointing it was with progression and failure to give us something more fast paced and interesting than 'Leo and his buddy' running seemingly forever while Viola acts as a commentator/television. I would have honestly preferred to see the family revived, as was proposed last week because it would have been more entertaining. The rating wasn't lower because it was enjoyable, even if for a minute, to see Leo own Giolla.

In the week where we all nearly had heart attacks (especially Usopp), with the question posed – Will Sugar be back?!?!?

We didn’t learn much from this episode, but one thing we did learn is..

TONTATTAS SURE DO CRY A LOT.

One Piece Episode 713 REVIEW - Barrier-Barrier! Homage God Fist Strikes!

NOTE: I do not own this image.

This week, Cavendish and Bartolomeo inadvertently teamed up to take down Gladius of the Donquixote Family and get Nico Robin to the sunflower field at the top of the cliff where Kyros and Rebecca are in at in what looks like a stalemate situation with Diamante.

Progression seems to have been made, as a foe has fallen but let's face it, the storyline isn't picking up quick enough and we have all long been getting quite tired of this.

But all in all, I did enjoy this episode. To start off with, the way Cabbage tries to fend off Hakuba and the producers put a little comedy into the situation as Bartolomeo is stunned at the direct half body possession of Hakuba.

Bartolomeo has a convincing attempt to save Nico Robin from an oncoming Gladius attack but fails in the end. This puts Robin in a position where she must put trust in Cavendish to survive. This displayed a softer side of Cavendish as he apologises to Nico Robin for the actions of his alter-ego. We also get to see Cavendish using Hakuba to enhance his own capabilities as the speed of Hakuba is used to flee the scene.

NOTE: I do not own this image.
I think this episode became the episode where Bartolomeo finally attempted to go all out and showed signs of genuine balls. After realising his lack of wit and strength in his first attempt to contain Gladius, he questions his competence and ambitions and then executes an all out attack to finish Gladius in a manner that much resembles Luffy, with his obvious copy of Luffy's Gomu Gomu No Pistol called the Barrier Barrier No Pistol.

One of the things I like doing with One Piece is discussing potential new members to the Mugiwala crew. I think the author once again indicates Bartolomeo as a future member of the pirate crew as Bartolomeo says that one day he will be good enough to help Luffy. In my opinion, Bartolomeo's loyalty to the Straw Hats makes him an ideal candidate and he also has much room for improvement.

The partnering of Cavendish and Bartolomeo and their relationship in general makes them both stand out as candidates. Much like the duo of Shanks and Buggy on the Pirate Kings crew who had a lot of petty conflict between them. Of course, this is all speculation. Feel free to comment what you think at the bottom.

I would give this episode an 8/10 because I feel that progress was made and there is one less Donquixote Family member to deal with and one more fight completed. Talking about family members, it appears that most of the fallen family members will rise again next week, with Jora (the fancily dressed fat lady) bringing them back.

My Rating: 10/10

In a world where ghouls and humans coexist and ghouls must eat human flesh for their survival, this 12 episode thriller by Sui Ishida displays  a world where ghouls eat humans and humans are on the attempt to eradicate ghouls in a bid to rid their society of this evil plague. But did you know they can also drink coffee?

Meet Kaneki Ken. Your normal schoolboy from Tokyo, Japan, whoes normal life is interrupted and changed for better or worse, by a girl called Rize.

Tokyo Ghoul shows the struggle of a boy who becomes part human and part ghoul. His inner struggle of a clash between morals and extreme hunger as he experiences first hand that Ghouls are far more normal than most humans make them out to be.

Although some argue otherwise, I believe character development is one of the stronger points of this anime. If you want to witness a normal boy unwillingly climbing up the levels of monstrosity, as he fights his desires to consume human flesh while in the same time trying to keep his humanity, then I highly recommend this anime.

Although it is categorised as horror, it isn't particularly scary, or predictable for that matter. However, the themes are more horror-like as this anime includes brutality, blood, brutality, innocent scenes at a coffee shop and then even more brutality. I can't promise you will enjoy this anime as much as I did, but one thing I can promise you is brutality.

What made me like it is the very dark, twisted and tragic storyline, which I feel is something this anime does very well, and is in this sense a step ahead of all other animes.

The show on the other hand can be criticised for not explaining how this world of ghouls came to be, but I don't think this takes anything away from it. It's also criticised for not following it's manga counterpart although Tokyo Ghoul itself has been popularised by the success of the first season of anime and fans say that the changes from the manga is what has made this anime successful.

The anime delivers quite stunning art and animation, often criticised as bland with an amazing soundtrack that probably portrays the emotional aspects better than the animation itself and is well paced (well, it is only 12 episodes).

Oh, and the voice acting of Kaneki by Natsuki Hanae just as incredible if not more incredible than the soundtrack.

It does have other cool characters as well, but quite frankly, who cares?

One Piece So Far - DISCLAIMER: Spoiler Alert!

So, if you do watch the One Piece anime, you will know that it is currently on a whopping 712 episodes, which may seem overwhelming to the person who hasn't previously watched the anime, let alone the person who doesn't watch anime at all.

At this point, I will assume that you are a One Piece fan, so lets drop the small talk.

For me, the different Story Arcs in this Masterpiece by Eiichiro Oda are phenomenal. Each Arc has been executed to the standard of an independent Anime, ultimately being assembled together to forge arguably the greatest ongoing Anime ever.

One Piece has bought us some of the most loved Arcs in Anime, such as the infamous Marineford Arc. The way it bought together it's most powerful characters at an early point in the overall progression of the storyline and having a clash of characters so strong that Luffy's efforts looked as influencial as a haystack are some of the many reasons why it amazes me. Other Arcs such as the Ennies Lobby arc, where it started off seeming like Nico Robin betrayed the crew and finished with the entire crew displaying the extent of their bonds through an epic rescue, even poor old Sogeking (aka Sniper King, aka Captain Usopp, aka Usopp, aka..) anonymously joins in the rescue, putting his friendship before his honour after his fallout with the Captain but luckily for us, he rejoins at the end. Other Arcs that come to mind which are personal favourites are Impel Down Arc, Skypiea Arc, Water 7 Arc and the wonderfully comical Long Ring Long Land Arc.

Moving onto what's currently going on. The Dressrosa Arc is one of the slightly longer Arcs in the Anime (bit of an understatement). Starting off with Lucy and the tournament in the Corrida Colosseum, the group splitting up into two parts and then sh*tloads of episodes with Rebecca screaming like a b*tch which caused me to consider therapy. The story then builds and we are introduced to Luffy's long lost brother Sabo, who turns out not to be dead, but in fact saved by Luffy's father, Monkey D. Dragon. Also, Admiral Fujitora, one of the newly emerging Admirals since Akainu's promotion to Fleet Admiral is introduced to the audience.

After the Rebecca phase, the Tontattas are on a low profile mission to save their Princess (literally low) and Trafalgar Law has his backside kicked down to the dirt by Doflamingo. Sabo eats the Mera Mera fruit, which was incredibly Awesome. Usopp manages to take down Sugar which causes her power to reverse and all the people turned to toys and trapped as slaves in the SMILE factory, regain their previous lives and start worshipping Usopp like a bunch of zombies raving in a club, giving him the title of God Usopp. Furthermore the Tontattas say Usoland about 147 times and Franky is still in his never ending battle of masculinity with Senor Pink. Kyros, with his returned body then proceeds to go and decapitate Doflamingo and the Arc ends.

The Arc doesn't really end though as the body Kyros decapitated turns out to be a string clone. Doflamingo is enraged and traps everybody into the island with a string birdcage. He then places bounties on the head of all his enemies, uses his string powers to make civilians attack one another and basically causes the entire island to go berserk.

This brings us to the current episodes, where Oda is building the Arc into its final stages where Luffy will eventually fight Doflamingo and needless to say, crush him.

The latest episode, namely "Episode 712: A Strong Wind and a Surge! Hakuba vs. Dellinger!", featured the return of the alter-ego of Cavendish called Hakuba. At the beginning, Gladius is launching a large scale attack against Cavendish who is ordering Bartolomeo to let him into the inside of the barrier. After a rather funny arguement, Bartolomeo helps Cavendish. Later on, after Dellinger is on a high from a ruthless kill he encounters Hakuba, who takes him out at the swing of a sword and then annihilates him with countless strikes. The episode doesn't fail to impress as in the end of the episode, Hakuba goes after Nico Robin, and Bartolomeo is unable to help her. To the surprise of the audience, Nico Robin is completely unfazed and has Hakuba at the palm of her hand.
NOTE: I do not own this image.

It appears that Nico Robin has been hiding her abilities and though I don't think that she will continue to clash with Hakuba, the possibility does remain open. Unlike other episodes, this episode focused solely on the development of this particular situation and didn't waste too much time on showing for example, glimpses of fights between Pica and Zoro, Franky and Senor etc.

This episode was one of the more entertaining episodes and I rate it an 8/10.
